If you workout indoors, or enjoy biking and want to find a way to keep yourself in shape when it’s too cold to ride, you may want to look into purchasing the Nautilus U614 upright bike. The features, benefits, and downsides of this bike will be discussed in this review.
The height of the seat can be adjusted to fit any rider, and the height of the handlebars can be adjusted as well so that the rider will have correct posture and there won’t be a lot of pressure on the lower back. The handlebars also pivot.
The pedals have straps that can be adjusted to fit any size foot and don’t make a lot of noise so you can listen to music or watch a movie while you pedal without having to hear a lot of background noise. If you want to keep track of your heart rate while you cycle, you can use the built-in touch sensors to check it while you ride. If you drink water while you ride, the bike also has a water bottle holder.
In addition, you can keep track of your workouts on this bike with five different workout categories – fun rides, mountains, challenges, heart rate control, and fitness test. Fun rides have lower resistance levels so they provide more of a cardio workout.
They’re great for people who are new to fitness training, but they’ve also been optimized so that riders will burn fat with these workouts. Mountain rides are more high-intensity workouts. The resistance levels have a little more variation, which helps improve your cardiovascular endurance. Challenges are higher intensity workouts that provide more interval training and continuous climbing, which helps strengthen your lower body.
Watch your heart
With heart rate control workouts, you choose the heart rate you want to stay at, and then the resistance automatically changes during your workout so that your heart rate always stays where it should be. Finally, the U614’s fitness test compares your power output to your heart rate – the more power you’re putting out at a certain heart rate, the higher your fitness level is.
You can also set up a user profile on this exercise bike so you can track your data over time. You can also sync the data to the NautilusConnect service that this bike uses, and if you use MyFitnessPal to track your workouts, you can sync your workouts there as well.
Once the bike is set up, however, it works well, and you’ll be able to adjust the height of the seat easily if you need to – this is useful if more than one person is going to be using the bike. The seat is wide enough for most people to ride on, but you can always replace it with a different one if you find you don’t like the one that comes with the bike.
The only downsides to this bike are that it can take a while to assemble – it may take you an hour to figure things out and do it right because the instructions are not very clear – you may have to call the help desk if you have problems.
If you’re looking for an upright exercise bike that’s small and easy to use, and that you’ll be able to keep track of your progress on, this bike is worth checking out. Check it out at your favorite exercise equipment retailer.
